Get Ready for the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch
Enjoy 10 % off all bird care at Gordale from Saturday 17th until Friday 23rd January, so you can stock up on supplies ahead of the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch – what a lovely idea.

At this time of year, birds need all the help they can get, and your garden can play an important role.
Why The Big Garden Bird Watch Matters
Winter is a challenging season for birds. Natural food sources are scarce, daylight hours are short and cold weather uses up precious energy. By taking part in the Bird Watch, you’re helping scientists understand which species are thriving and which may need extra support – information that directly contributes to conservation efforts.
How To Get Involved
Getting involved couldn’t be easier:
- Choose one hour between Friday 23rd and Sunday 25th January
- Watch the birds in your garden or local green space
- Record the highest number of each species you see at one time
- Submit your results to the RSPB online
Even if you only spot a few birds, every count matters.
How To Make Your Garden Bird-Friendly This Winter
A little preparation can make your garden much more inviting for feathered friends during the Bird Watch weekend and beyond. Here’s how you can help:
- Provide a consistent supply of food – choose high quality bird feed, suet balls and fat balls
- Give fresh water, daily
- Create shelter from the weather using branches and foliage or install a bird box if you have space
We’d love to help you to get ready. Our knowledgeable team in the Bird Care department will be happy to offer advice on choosing the right products for your garden and the birds you’d like to attract.
